Test With a Purpose

More testing is not always better testing. At Longevous Youth Clinic, laboratory and specialty testing are selected according to your history, symptoms, risk factors and the clinical question we are trying to answer.

Conventional Laboratory Evaluation

Depending on the clinical situation, testing may include blood count, metabolic markers, glucose-related markers, lipids, thyroid testing, selected hormone testing, nutritional markers and other standard laboratory studies.

Hormone Evaluation

Hormone testing is selected based on age, sex, symptoms, menstrual or menopausal status, medications and treatment goals. Results are interpreted in the context of the full clinical picture.

Metabolic & Cardiometabolic Assessment

Selected testing may help assess glucose regulation, lipid-related risk, liver and kidney function, thyroid status and other contributors to metabolic health.

Nutritional & Functional Testing

Selected specialty testing may be considered when clinically appropriate and when the result is expected to change management. Availability and usefulness vary by test.

DUTCH Testing

DUTCH testing may be considered for selected patients when a more detailed hormone-metabolite assessment is clinically useful. It is not required for every hormone patient and should not replace standard evaluation when conventional testing is more appropriate.

How Testing Works

  1. 1Consultation and clinical question
  2. 2Selection of appropriate tests
  3. 3Specimen collection or laboratory visit
  4. 4Results review
  5. 5Individualized recommendations and follow-up

Important

Testing does not by itself establish a diagnosis. Results are interpreted with symptoms, history, examination when needed and other clinical data.
